Often referred to as chrysolite, Peridot is a transparent yellow-green variety of olivine. It is unique among gemstones for its single, distinctive color. Peridot is typically found in mafic and ultramafic rocks, including lava and peridotite xenoliths from the mantle. Major sources of Peridot include volcanic regions such as those in Arizona, Myanmar, and Pakistan, as well as in silica-deficient environments like volcanic basalt and pallasitic meteorites.
