Horse and Rider Turquoise Cabochon Belt Buckle by Mike Platero
Created using a precise overlay process, the artist cuts out a design on one piece of metal, then solders it on top of another piece, allowing the oxidized, or darker, areas to show through in the design; the end result is a flawless, eye-catching piece of jewelry. This buckle is adorned with a large example of Kingman Turquoise.

The Kingman Turquoise Mine is the last full-time production mine in the United States. Believe it or not, turquoise was mined from this area as far back as 1000 AD during the Mayan turquoise boom!
