Each month we’ll explore some of this local’s favorite haunts! This month I’ll cover some of the best Globe, Arizona restaurants.

3. Jumbo Chinese Restaurant: Let me take a moment to explain to you just how pleasurable my last experience was at Jumbo. I’m immediately greeted by familiar faces and the sound of a genuinely entertaining radio station. The restaurant is clean and spacious with private restrooms. Just beyond the cash register, they have a small lunch buffet consisting of all of the regular Chinese-American fares. I decide to order off of their menu. Beef skewers and shrimp fried rice. My food comes out promptly, and I can tell it’s still steaming hot. You guys, this was the BEST meal! I’m not even exaggerating. Their portions are large enough that I left the restaurant stuffed and came home with plenty to share. Plan for one portion to feed two to four people. Furthermore, there are plenty of amenities nearby like banks and ATMs, a Fry’s grocery store, hair and nail salons, gas stations, convenience stores, and even a couple of water refill stations! If you’re craving some quality Chinese food, this Globe Arizona restaurant should be at the top of your list!

2. Copper Hen Bakery and Cafe: So you’re in Downtown Globe for a day out, and you want somewhere exceptional to sit down and eat. Welcome to the Copper Hen Bakery and Cafe! This Globe Arizona restaurant boasts charming decor, a spacious interior, and even outdoor seating for those idyllic Globe, Arizona afternoons. Plus, it’s right across the street from the Veteran’s Park, home to a free Little Library and a historic 1901 steam engine, one of only 7 in existence today. Alright, back to the food! This restaurant is a bit unique since its cold-storage refrigerators are located in the dining area. This means that before you even order your food, you have the chance to gaze upon the fresh ingredients that will get used. They sell baked goods and classic American breakfast staples like giant omelets, pancakes, and french toast. Stuffed french toast. Yeah. Do you want to know how I judge a restaurant? I judge them by their hash browns, and the Copper Hen gets an A+! If you’re looking for more of a lunch affair, worry not! They have plenty of cold and hot sandwiches, salads, and even a fish basket! You won’t be disappointed with the Copper Hen!

    1. La Luz Del Dia: La Luz has been a community breakfast staple since 1973. With its doors open from 6 am to 2 pm, this place is for the early birds. Their service is warm and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere brings you back to a simpler place in time. The grills are only separated from the dining area by a counter and some stools. It is there that the waitresses and cooks banter with their regulars while cooking food fresh in front of your eyes. This Globe Arizona restaurant serves all of the classic breakfast staples, with your choice of toast, a tortilla, or hash browns. They also have pastries and breakfast burritos (burros if you’re from Eastern Arizona). If you get a pastry, don’t forget to order a jumbo mug of fresh coffee to go with it! Their lunch menu has a little bit for everybody. They sell authentic Globe, Arizona-style Mexican food like burros, tacos, and Menudo. They also have items like burgers, sandwiches, and fish and chips. If you’re out and about and looking for a solid breakfast or lunch spot, I’d highly recommend La Luz Del Dia.
