Vintage 1940s Coin Earrings with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise
Once thought to have the Roman God Mercury on the front, the Mercury dime was minted between 1916 to 1946. In fact, it is the winged head of Liberty. Following the old Navajo tradition, two domed Mercury dimes are bonded together to create hollow beads on these earrings, flanked by Sleeping Beauty turquoise heishi. Genuine sterling silver. Fish hook backings. 2.6" long, up to 0.75" wide
Artist: James McCabe, Navajo
This turquoise is sourced from the Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine, which is recognized for having produced some of the finest turquoise in the world.
